Poem Artwork
Tears Unrealized...
by Odin Roark

Sunlit days might have served the beginning
full moon nights might have fostered continuing
but such were the stillbirths of my effort
emotion's leaves falling
without color in the fall

Then was heard a piano
a simple scale
stumbling fingers
a child learning
pausing
allowing laughter of joy
accepting imperfection as perfect

Listening

I succumbed
lowering my head in shame
not for my weeping
but for having carried tears unrealized so long

Achingly beautiful expression of emotion in this poem. What an image, leaves falling without color....that right there is a blanching so rightly fixed upon loss of essence, juice. I like how you left the word, "Listening" all by itself to stand out quietly. If I were ever to sport a tatoo, I would like it to say: "Allowing laughter of joy/accepting imperfection as perfect." That is ripeness of a whole strange new delicious fruit. ~~ Diana

Mighty fine introspective poetry this morning, Odin.

A great poem of reflection about our own feelings. Sometimes we may be expecting too much from others, and when others don't live up to our expectation, or don't understand our efforts, then we think that we have failed.

Sometimes we are disappointed when we put an effort into something and it fails, and then our sadness is relieved by other simple things in life... like listening to an innocent child playing and learning, and marveling at the most simplest thing in life. Then we would suddenly realized how much we, ourselves, have been taking in all the sadness from everything all along around us.
