An Existential Unknown
by Odin Roark
How tenuous
His body afloat
Shifting and surging
Knowing peace is quietly seeking
Horizons unknown
The why of winds gathering thrust
The where of navigation’s purpose
The how of knowing journey’s end
Islands of delusion plead docking
As compass points away
Continuance persuasive
Destiny insistent
So goes this man’s trust
Finding peace with ever changing tides
Knowing where he is
Is where he needs to be
How bright the moon of every night
Fading each dawn into another blazing light
Where beyond the next horizon
Continued wonder at life’s simple demands
Promises rewards beyond reason
Tirelessly at the helm
He ponders beyond
His often-foggy vision
Might this be infinity’s jest
A circuitous voyage
Forever discovering
There is no end?
