Jetsam's Flotsam

Everyone suffers loss, and every loss has a point of closure…we hope.

Poem Artwork
Jetsam’s Flotsam
by Odin Roark

Passion’s purge
Emotion’s jetsam of the heart
Enjoins mind’s rationale
Becoming decision’s flotsam
Sorrow’s residual

Hovering above pain
It floats anonymously
Like a message-less bottle
Forever adrift
Finding neither grounding
Or relief with sinking.

Such is the suffering
When loss seems brutal
And tear ducts close
Exhausted

With all the protections of modern civilization, we are powerless to predict the next disaster. The sooner we dry our eyes and get back to living (assuming we are still alive), the better.

Still, there is no need to live or to build in line with any place that is. Why suffer the consequences when we have a choice to avoid.

When emotions are overloaded, jetsams are needed to lighten our burdens.
