Middle East Redux
by Odin Roark
Stagnant hatred in stealth-like guise
Once again trickles down history’s gullet,
An inoculated disease gone rogue,
Bursting forth its repugnant sting
Like a swarming beehive
Bent on revenge en masse.
Officials cower like petulant parakeets,
Fluttering behind cages of intricate woven greed,
Now but perpetual ingested corruptness
Reduced to bottom-cage jetsam.
The desert’s heat-shadow wavers noiselessly,
Knowing the only breeze remaining
Is the breath of fear,
That often held wheeze of exhaustion
Awaiting shock and awe annihilation,
The inevitable thermal blinding-light
Known as fini.
Shia. It's surprising there's anyone left to die.
