Love’s attempt to preserve itself sometimes goes wrong especially when its appreciation is but only object oriented. Fortunately, some of us understand that and can move on beyond the illusive allure. (Image by obsoleteangel)

Freezer Burn
by Odin Roark
How gently we savor love's hors d'oeuvres,
Knowing not
Even in reserved bites
Appetites can rise,
Luring satiation into unguarded repose
While senses become numbed
To seduction’s imbibing gentleness.
As time passes,
How appalled we become
When spoilage seemed avoided,
Sealed long-term preservation secured.
Suffocated love,
Life’s alarm for fragile illusions,
Suffers the inevitable freezer burn.
Still,
For many,
Love’s knowledge requires learning,
Otherwise ignorance continues
Blindly repeating yesterday’s false impression.
thought provoking read
Wonderful allegory.
