We are so guilty of misunderstanding the reasoning of love.

Recusant Love
by Odin Roark
Beware those who use the heart as a seesaw,
To teeter the balance of emotion’s scale,
To patronize one’s aggressive fix on out-of-control passion as the blessed way…
To ignore Nature’s magical wand of forever-surprising reality,
That bodes such joining as…
Just as Queen Elizabeth warned her would be courtiers,
So too continues the 21st version
The power up with attorney and accountant,
Threatening an arsenal of battle weapons,
Knowing admitting one’s mistake bodes an always-costly loss
To someone.
To entertain recusant love,
Is to defy what has become the norm,
Habit’s roll of the dice,
Emotion’s clinging to that roll of the dice,
Counting on winning as a periodical passifier,
Supposedly making the difference,
Trying to ignore the losing impact.
Oh, the losers,
So tenacious their resolve,
So belligerent their reaction,
Often blind to love’s primal essence.
Hunger knows no tinsel decoration,
It only seeks out the satiation of a state of mind,
A fix on life needing not an object,
But only to be a conjoining of nature and humanity-balance,
Asking not for gluttonous reward, but for emotional satiation,
That ever-elusive understanding and appreciation of life’s gift,
Our ability to reject civilization’s conundrum of what it’s all about,
Should we exercise the courage.
It's all about emotional satiation, and the big bill for a divorce that puts both sides in the poor house.

Very elusive indeed, especially these days it seems.
