We Died
by Odin Roark
We were born,
and then…
We perished in childhood,
into fantasies and imagination,
into wispy smoke trail,
those magical streams
only melting candles have.
We vanished into celebration’s air,
rode upon the wings of ravens and sparrows,
vultures and doves.
Of time, we died,.
of noon chimes proclaiming future,
of sundown calling it a day,
of midnight reminders
of insomnia discovery,
of the expectancy woven
from worry and doubt,
for they too played a part.
At night while most slept,
we looked up,
falling amidst the stars,
knowing we were of all worlds,
constellations,
even the dark of darkness.
They called us many names,
even though we are truths,
and we keep on dying,
yet wherever they look…
they see us.
