White Dust Memories

What history lurks
below blackboard surfaces,
wedged in creases of eraser felt,
in between folds of holding trays?

How pristine we wiped clean
the dark window’s surface,
making ready the day’s learning,
future remembrance,
yesterday’s youthful bygones.

Like stars burned out,
disintegrating to dust,
time’s ancient knowledge
now finds its rebirth
in ones and zeros.

For a few…

The latent markings
remain black and white teachings
embe dded in their rainbow dreams,
struggling to be remembered
in our hectic digital world.

For many, however,
such simple magic
remains airborne,
knowing not how to disappear,
its white dust memories holding fast
as jewels in the mind’s treasure trove.
