And this has been going on for Years...at the San Diego Zoo they made a Rainforest so people could see the importance of it. Mankind is killing Mankind!

Preserving and protecting the Amazon rain forest basin calls for a master plan that is within the domain of science and scientists, not politicians and exploiters. Until all concerned can acknowledge at least that much about the issue, there is little hope that it will ever be resolved—and it will continue to degrade into a giant killing field of unfathomable proportions. You have done your part.

Man has proved his arrogance and ignorance. Whether man has the intelligence to overcome that remains to be seen. An excellent write.

So sad. So very sad. Red Apple Ice-plant is disappearing here in SoCal in many areas. I read several articles in a similar vein just this last Saturday. 20,000 species on Planet Earth are nearing extinction. Many on the verge of disappearing forever. The California Condor has fallen to fewer than 25. The Lemurs of Madagascar. Giant Panda. Polar Bears. The Lesser Prairie Chickens. West African Lion. Pygmy Elephant. Galapagos Penguin. Snow Leopards. Humpback Whales. Bees. Gopher Tortoise. Sea Otters. Prairie Dogs. Tiger Sharks. This is all I can recall. The list is frighteningly long though. Both flora and fauna. And the ramifications to the planet are far-reaching. A moving piece that reaches into any caring reader. r

I lived a few years in Malaysia and had the opportunity to visit Borneo while I was in the neighborhood. While there, I took every opportunity to visit and trek thru the rain forests and jungles of the area, particularly Borneo was most impressive because it is mountainous as well. Last year at this time, for my winter holiday, I went to Sri Lanka (I have excerpts from an indepth travel article posted on AD) and spend several days trekking through their rain forests in the central highlands as well. Most impressive (and exhausting).

This by way of prelude to let you know that I know and appreciate the rain forests and have a particular love for them. That said, I just loved your poem. Firstly, again I repeat, I like the way you play with grammar together with the sense of repetition in order to make an impact. That works very well in this poem. Also, the two liners are perfect for the subject matter and meaningful as well. That's the form. Otherwise, content-wise, you touch upon the key points in a firm but touching manner that is most impressive. This poem works very well, Odin, and strikes right to the core. I love it. Well done.
