Perfection's Discordance

Is it possible that our obsession to perform living with pure perfection is but a distorted path to happiness? (image by Pinterest)

Poem Artwork
Perfection’s Discordance
by Odin Roark

Like another brush-stroke-taken-chance
on the canvas of resonant layers,
we strive to avoid the ill chosen element of color
or texture embellishing an experience we wish
to serve us well.

Yet…

The perfection of the breathing,
existence we possess for such a short while,
the very air that will allow the canvas to mature,
become touchable by all our senses,
and accept its destiny to be,
is forsaken.

How often we disappoint ourselves,
find fault for having allowed the experience,
that moment allowed its mistake,
the embraceable lesson we can only learn
from respecting the discordant nature of our reality…
the reality we create for ourselves.

Hopefully…

Our sense of the real
that comprises many brush-stroke-taken-chances,
will be given permission to error,
to become another lesson in truth.

without mistakes, there would be no lesson to learn ...and if we learn nothing, we fail to grow.

I once read that only a calamitous mistake could have exploded The Static Perfection, thus creating the universe. Or maybe it was that Humpty-dumpty nursery rhyme ... thanks for another keeper, Odin.

Yes, it is no contradiction to say it is the inner-directed soul that seeks to finds its way and that improves with experience. Those who seek to please others lose direction, are constantly distracted, and please no one. Very well expressed.

The beauty of making mistakes lies in the seed of discovery about ourselves and our own renewal. You have explored this theme here admirably. It's an important concept that we need to come to terms with. John

"we possess for such a short while..." Indeed! The redolence of soul-searching and human fallibility is preponderant in this. Living each moment honestly aboveboard, without trying to enhance or change it, or to fit in better, or to please others, can easily be construed as an idealism in this egocentric world. But for me it's not an idealism. It's a sign of intelligent maturity and growth that can only lead one to the ultimate Truth. Enjoyed. Peace to you...rlc
