Black Upon White

How prescient the black of its flag,
furled above their genocide,
masked upon faces while beheading,
a resurrected Dark Ages looming ever present.

Sex slaves,
rape,
hate and death,
allegiance to 7th century beliefs and actions,
Jihad wallows in a twisted reality.

How sad the innocent sparrow must feel,
or the hawk, both seeing from on high
the diseased minds destroying life,
all in the belief that there is only one God.

How fortunate those who tolerate one or multiple Gods,
realizing the comfort such beliefs gives,
while life of single cell to man,
even that which the cosmos hasn’t even evolved yet,
know in their essence that the world’s violence is evil,
is destined to self-destruct.

For some…
maybe a reincarnation of a sparrow or hawk,
to watch the next iteration of mankind,
repeat the pattern is their destiny.

One is left with…

What prevents black and white coalescing into a
comforting gray,
that compromise that might find a peaceful way
to eventually become the color
we don’t even know yet.

A color of loving sanity.
