Awakening before first light with one’s fingers already moving, as if upon a laptop’s keyboard, is unsettling at times. (Image by Logan Zilmer)

Quiet Resonance
by Odin Roark
Anticipating the eye by day,
awareness awaits temporary facades to retire,
another day's fulfillment,
another test of patience.
Inevitably…
As dawn draws near,
horizons portend awakening,
reality's shadow lengthens,
touching East to West,
comforting sleep’s ascension.
Shortly…
Shadowless light
bathes the mind's workshop,
a new day’s meditation begins,
waking hour's revealing nakedness
awaiting the ardor of one’s muse.
Closed eyes spring open,
releasing images once shaded,
now converging with cells of clarity,
surging through heartened valves,
flooding hesitant passions with courage,
shuffling the ever-present jigsaw impressions
into connectedness.
The inner-being’s lexicon of discovery takes shape,
mini percussions crescendo into massive cymbals,
light's arrival awakening imagination,
bursting forth renderings of yesterday's confusion
into today's resonance of quiet.
The poems we all carry
need but the nocturnal light
to usher closed the eyelids of sanctuary,
flowering child-innocent dreams
where nightmares seek solace
and pleasure gives thanks,
readying silent words
into passages of discovery.
Day ends…
Then once again one smiles upon night’s pillow,
foreshadowing tomorrow's arrival,
where visions procreate through yet another dark canopy,
preparing tomorrow’s epiphany of light.
I coded computers for many years. Whenever I see dramas depicting coders, their fingers are flying on the keyboard. That is really weird to me. Perhaps that is why I never became a coder as a profession. I simply couldn't keep up!

The poem contains amazing images and insights into the workings of the poet's day in a life. Excellent. John
