Cold Steel Blooming

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

As recent political coverage attests, there are many ways to hate and even more ways to preserve that hate for another day. For some, such retention is their life's meaning. One wishes a lesson could be learned by those who are addicted to repeating history, but effectively renouncing hate for love is not the easiest task to accomplish… especially those addicted to anger. Poem Artwork
Cold Steel Blooming
by Odin Roark

Elastic creatures we,
bending to our impulsive zone,
dodging history’s reality to come.

As archaic dirt rises
where once clear water flowed,
a forged weapon of anger lays dormant,
wanting its time to be the all,
believing life is merely another war waiting to be?

Tomorrow the gray sun of emotional pollution
will once more remind us of hate-mongers once bold,
dust gathering once again.
Waiting.

Oh, how patient they are,
knowing darkness is the light that once was,
an illumination long gone into their abyss.

Beware…

To listen is to know.
The ground is quaking.
The killing season’s irrigation complete.
The shards of hate are anxious to be harvested.

Such is cold steel about to bloom.

Everyone seems to have an ax to grind. Most harbor it in their souls and relish when they hear it spoken by those who are bold (usually arrogant, foolish, risk-taking and/or ignorant) enough to state the fear simply and clearly and then come up with a single simple solution like, "keep them out," "detain them," "make them pay," or, worst of all, phrases like, "defoliate them" or "nuke them."

When we raise the flag and glory of our country to kill others, our hatred is at its highest.

anger and hatred are the stagnated energy which is accumulated negatively in the dark corners of your soul, like puss in the body, to make the sun shine gray. . . so, the precept is to move in a positive way to disperse the gray with your purple blood; that's simple, sir. Cheers, alex

Simply beautiful and full of insight. Love a whole number of lines, but especially:

"knowing darkness is the light that once was,
an illumination long gone into their abyss."
