Mental Bedsores

Allowing a blistering pocket of inactivity,
the brain quickly falls prey to the discomfort of little movement. (Image by Pinterest)

Mental Bedsores
by Odin Roark

Unlike the dolphin, whale and elephant,
man finds it easy to vegetate and allow cognitive power to become docile,
if not anesthetized.

What of the boy who wanders about the war zones of the world,
crossing highways of dirt and dust where remains only remnants of a once thinking populous.
Lest we forget,
a small, growing mind continually probes his mental ability,
wondering if he will live another day?

Yet…

The other side of the world, Beverly Hills mentality encourages brains to lie dormant,
to think body, flesh, death, violence,
the essence of ratings, advertisers, and mediocrity
for those who can even comprehend how brain dead they are.

All such elements of non-thought are verging on of becoming mental bedsores,
bodies and heads that prefer other’s thinking to become theirs,
while allowing all parts of their own thinking mechanisms to remain prone.

The subconscious has little power over such a travesty,
unaware the conscious part of being is struggling to prevent such weakness to control the future,
manifesting balloons of ideas and thoughts to hopefully awaken the mind.

And yet…

So many say, “What’s a little discomfort with sores of docile activity? Others will think for me.

A good analysis of what's happening in our country today. I sometimes think we live in a comic book environment when we boil everything down to the simplicity of comic book superheroes leading us into mindless states of followership.

For me bedsores are real and occur if I don't "turn the other cheek," very often. I'm not sure it keeps me on my toes. My observation is that the older population is much more like David Cassidy with a kind of "hardening of the attitudes," just prior to slipping into dementia.

what we can see regarding this theme, there is going to be a huge breakthrough to however discriminate totally between the sorts of mind. It has already had a smooth start but the outcome will be rough. A great clue in the meantime. Cheers, alex

Nine years ago I had my TV disconnected. I seldom watch movies, and when I do I watch on the Internet. And I surely do not watch the "talking heads" on the news broadcast. What news I get I also get from the Internet where I can control what is being said. When the propaganda sneaks in, I turn it off. Good poetry exposing the degradation of our minds.

The image of bedsores is perhaps most appropriate when contemplating the state of the mind in today's world. Aptly stated. John

Such provocative imagery! Beautifully written and reveals the sadness and superficiality of the here and now.

That is downright disheartening that one would allow the brain to become dormant. No! We must read and get outdoors as that fuels the mind. I don't let "Others" to think for me. Obviously, you don't either. This write is thought provoking and motivating.

Love ya!

Jane
