With so many opinions defining love, might there be a simple answer? (Image by spark joy)

The Loving of Love
by Odin Roark

Which are we,
those who know
love needn’t be object-oriented,
or those who worship individuals,
responding only to reciprocal reactions?

Might there be…

Love without object or flesh,
love which demands no entity,
but lives eternally,
a sentient ability to be,
to see,
smell,
taste,
hear,
and touch the untouchable,
in truth?

Like a desert of sand,
our kernels of existence,
you, me, everyone
remain subject
to endless dust storms,
stirring up life’s turbulent patterns,
foisting choices on our consciousness,
arousing actuality.

Unfortunately, …

Many such settling of storms
are void of truthful principals
such as love.

Could it be…

In truth,
to feel loved,
to experience the act of giving love
is merely a willingness
to be in the state of love
with the tree,
the plant,
the flower,
the human,
even the spirit sharing the sublime,
giving back a part of infinity’s passion
as a way being… of truthfully holding to who one is?

Yet…

We cling to gender love,
companion,
marriage partner,
usually reduced to that which is common.

So vociferously we hold fast,
as if that were the quintessential manifestation,
when so many innocent realities,
like our surroundings,
long for our caress.

Earth’s infinite possibilities
asks for nothing but our unqualified
acceptance of the state of love,
void of any simpleton resistance.

Yanni said it best at a concert of his I attended, "Love is all.". We are all "love". Isn't that lovely?

Love ya!

Love means that we have a very good reason for bringing the death of any living entity to our favor. It also means that we free ourselves from jealousy and other forms of possession. Sharing is our mantra and unconditional love for everything that surrounds us.

At least that's the way I see it. ;-)

I would (and do) ask: Why cannot love be both gender based and cosmically based? If someone finds love in nature, in music, in poetry, or in the contemplation and the joy of existence, does that preclude finding more in the joining of two bodies, two souls, two spirits? I see no conflict in embracing both.

well, my simple answer is: Love is what makes us be better. The real question is that not all of us want this. Cheers, alex

When I read your question above, I thought, indeed if there is a simple answer, Odin will find it. Indeed you did, although not as simple as it seems. John
