Socrates Still Furiously Sleeps

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Was it all figured out in the time of Socrates? Might there be a reawakening possible?

Poem Artwork
Socrates Still Furiously Sleeps

Rainbows collapse into molten ooze
as mind’s sweat-lodge-purge drowns ignorance forever,
and one’s mind coalesces into white-hot light
heating the searing reality of falsehood.

Melting cools.

Resistance to truth is defenseless,
as the current of dreams awakens,
save those who deny the cleansing power of truth.

Socrates sleeps furiously…
patiently waiting.

"Resistance to truth is defenseless," is the most telling line. It may take a while, but the truth always wins out in the end. It is really sad that so often, so many lives are lost when lies propel us into constant conflict resulting in death.

That first line is quite an image. Socrates, Aristotle, Plato; I've a feeling that none of them would want to meditate, or expostulate with one another, on this crazy self-centered violent (modern?) world. Unique thoughts, Odin. Peace... r

Love this image of Socrates sleeping, waiting to wake up. Great poem.
