We often forget how easy it is to remain disconnected from the gifted. (Image by Mapes)

Wall of Silent Talkies
Walking the city,
camera in hand,
he snaps here,
multiple-clicks there,
videos flowing subtleties,
images en masse filling his head.
Later…
His one room comes alive,
a window shuttered,
a door locked,
a laptop never sleeping,
a printer,
a chair,
his bed.
His single light bulb
sways gently from above,
giving movement across
collage-walls,
a montage of moving pictures,
his company,
his invited guests surrounding him,
appreciating his quiet choices,
respecting other pedestrians he passed,
revering other buildings he framed,
knowing their gallery-like presentation is special.
Eagerly
With a modest glass of Gallo as companion,
he toasts them all,
smiles in thanks,
sits and celebrates the special aloneness
only one who is deaf can appreciate.
Love ya!

As I am rapidly losing my hearing, I wonder if I will be able to continue to appreciate words that I can no longer hear spoken or sung. So your last line grabbed me.
