3/14/18 - As we mourn the loss of Stephen Hawking, one is reminded of the “whys” for his lengthy journey. Perhaps the answer is too all-encompassing to appreciate, until we too refuse the darkness of ignorance. (Image by CHOIZ)

Darkness Foiled
Unbeknownst to many of us…
You shadowed our adolescence,
As our own journey of mind tried to reach into the past
Where prickly pears gazed fondly
At history’s often difficult understanding.
Was it fear of ignorance our affliction?
Did your teachings hover above as we connected
Felines purr to sunlight's ray
Ever mindful fear comes in daylight
As well?
Today…
We climbed the rocks beyond that marked “inaccessible,”
Listened for ancient echoes you discovered and shared
With often whispered synthesized stories,
Some of joy,
Many of sorrow,
Most of discovery and wonder,
All part of a day's ticking time,
Waiting out tomorrow.
How vigilant your tenacity,
Knowing light was dimming,
Even as many deaf-mind’s curiosity chose to pull the covers
High across eyes refusing to hear and accept.
Still…
Some of us smiled,
Willing to stumble through our intellects many limitations,
Always willing to keep open the door,
Questions forever ready for answers.
There must be reason
Air floats endless mantras
Sustaining the butterfly aloft,
Rendering wings motionless,
Nature’s gravitational message
Reminding us that your final shadow
Has determined to venture into new cosmic mysteries,
Leaving behind your levitating spirit,
Forever in reach if we will but
Imagine the unimagined,
That revealing light within,
Forever aglow…
Patiently waiting,
Knowing darkness can be foiled.
Love ya!

Stephen undoubtedly had lots of time to think. Combining what he already knew, and perhaps, some of the emerging images coming from astronomy all around the world and particularly, the Hubble telescope, he could imagine theories without being interrupted like so many with the busy life of just busyness that so many of us engage in.
And, he had what I like to call, "just in time technology." Would he have been able to write his seminal bestseller or speak so eloquently to audiences if he had not had that wonderful voice synthesizer? Do you think that is genius would have been missed without it? Glad you included the voice synthesizer your poem.

Much gratitude to You for this golden Scroll in homage to Stephen Hawking, D. P. (Doctor Plus.).
His life is forever a lesson of perseverance, dedication and hard work.
His family must be also be acknowledged for cooperative and courageous attitude; caring, tending to his physical needs, and spiritual support.
He was able to complete his studies for his first doctorate after he was diognosed with "MND -- Motor Neuron Disease". That was an accomplishment only possible with persistence and courage.
"Darkness Foiled" sings to dedication, perseverance and Love.
In reverent appreciation,
