A baby’s cry
As discomfort foreshadowing the future

Ambition
The quintessential slippery slope

Competition
The dice roll of seduction

Envy
Admiration losing its legs

Jealousy
Emotion’s self-loathing servitude

War
An avoidable destruction
Imagine…

Being truly human
Living life worthy of remembrance.

A noble goal we all should strive for. Unfortunately, so many seem destined to be remembered for infamy. Their lives are shorter and less happy than the approach you suggest.

Okay . . . This poem, especially these two lines touched me deeply.
