Sanity's Resting Place

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

For Existentialist thinking humans, defining their own meaning in life and trying to make rational decisions despite existing in an irrational universe is a survivalist’s resolve to remain sane. (Painting by funkblast1)

Sanity’s Resting Place

Wading through the shallow waters of doubt was easy.

Swimming through murky seas of untruth tired the will.

Climbing aboard the ghost ship of hope proved frightening.

Arriving at the island of trust gave repose.

Gazing back became but yesterday’s untethered suffering.

Sanity embraced Nature’s aura as journey’s final stand.

Six indepth lines in this very, very welcomed poem, at least for me. You could take each line alone and use it to write a novel, and in the end you'd have six novels.

A change of pace that I thoroughly liked. I really enjoyed the insights provided in these brief lines of genius.

Truly excellent, Odin. If only we could begin with the understandings and knowledge we've gathered at the end - to somehow bequeath those talents and skills - but no, I think.
It is mostly just for our own selfish pleasures that we drop
these bits of bread along the trail, think them life markers or energy treasures for some future pilgrim to consider ancient
wisdom ... and surely it is. Best, Jan

"If I were to (wish) for anything, I wouldn't wish for wealth and power but for a passionate sense of potential, for the eye which, ever young and ardent, sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints, possibility never. And what wine is so sparkling, what so fragrant, what so intoxicating as possibility." Soren Kierkegaard... You have such eyes Odin. Continued inspiration.
