We Writers of a Different Need


A breed of expression
only few can know,
even fewer choose to understand.

Residing in a place
where movement of mind and spirit
roams the beyond of ones’ shadows,
arresting the possible
forward to the obvious.

Pursuing the why of what,
that haven the inner-self finds comforting,
where once lurked but a dark flirtation
with a revelation beneath life’s façade,
the now of joy laboring fearlessly
amidst inner-light and vision.

What only few have known,
now reaches out to many who yearn to know.

All that is necessary
is at our fingertips,
ready to become a voice
for many of mute spirit,
starving to escape
echoless halls of stagnation,
conscious of their shackled impotence,
yet unaware beneath the fear,
expression awaits liberation.

And so it continues…

With pencil in hand or keyboard,
we return to the page,
not as saviors,
but as needful messengers
creating and sharing discoveries
hopefully worth reading.

Some of us find it often perplexing…

This identity with simply being writers of modest needs,
okay with not reaching a profusion of recognition,
accepting the reward of making a difference
in the lives of a few.

Such is reward enough for we writers of a different need.
