Eyelashes Releasing Resolve

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Lessons learned have their own timetables at times. Teaching’s closure can linger, be that of relationships, business, or personal study. Usually, there are tears of all kinds.

Poem Artwork
Eyelashes Releasing Resolve

Freezing shackles,
today’s rusted chains
once gripped a willing heart,
now forever scrap metal,
a mere heap.

But, there was a time
when destiny's praying Mantis
patiently waited until brandishing paralysis
on innocence found decorated crimson passion
by razor sharp cuts,
bringing submissive smiles to frowns,
comedy to tragedy.

Then unexpectedly,
there came a day,
known little by rejection's malaise,
when learned senses informed hard won immunities
to gently disarm disguised weapons of slavery
with compassion's embrace.

Lessons learned
warmed the frigid past,
defrosted harbored resentment,
melted clinging disappointment,
evaporated icy delusions,
reduced persistent tears
to eyelashes releasing resolve.

Sometimes those "razor sharp cuts" are wounds that scar eventually. Now, scar tissue is supposedly stronger than the skin around it often leaving a dull pain. Hmmmmmmmmm.........'Very deep! 'Enjoyed!

Love ya!

That is a wonderful metaphor for all of the rejection, one little cut at a time. I can imagine the "tension resolve" to succeed in a frightfully tough business of creative writing among critical sharks. You learned the lessons well.

You took on the world with this one. Are razor cuts as prevalent today as they were . . . back then? This line, my friend says it all . . . "once gripped a willing heart, / now forever scrap metal," Yesssss!
