Nothing More, Nothing Less

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

To resign oneself to establishing an inflexible position of thinking and conviction — as to avoid premature demise of the brain’s potential, and in many cases, one’s heart, given one is strongly influenced by the other — might be to live as a dead species walking. (Image by flickr)

Poem Artwork
Nothing More, Nothing Less

Seek what I seek,
not what I speak.

That whirling dervish of conviction one conveys
need not, nor should not,
suggest how the reader should believe,
convey,
speak,
or seek.

Though...

Would that more wordsmiths
were inclined to present but a perception,
rather than a guised demand to follow his or her belief,
such a reader challenge might lead
to a more enlightened state of mind.

For what is one person’s experience
Over another?

Can yours or my perception of experience
be an end all,
the way it is,
or should be?

Reality’s quest for truth
is to encourage consideration of options,
that which is a result of one’s own experience,
and lest we forget, Frederick Franck posits :
“An artist has an obligation to question the conditions that rule all our lives…
and to cause his audience to do the same.”

Such a simple maxim.

Nothing more.
Nothing less.

Like nature itself, we are free to adapt, to entertain our beliefs from the sum of our experiences. Sure, we are influenced by a new thought or "way". One needs to find that special place to contemplate this. Cool message!

Love ya!

Whether it be "hardening of the brain cells," or just plain, "stuck in the mud," those that refuse to face the facts and incorporate new ideas are doomed to be the dinosaurs that drag our society down with their archaic thoughts and practices.

I hope your prosety today got some of those thinking.

You make an excellent point here. The poet's experience is like the old flash camera, highlighting an experience that need not be another's experience, just a piece of humanity in cameo.
