Being Made

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

A bit of prosetry for all, young and old, who feel lost in a swirling pool of hostile misconception of who others think you are. (Image by Nykeil)

Being Made

Been “made” lately?

We all know the feeling;
modest appearance,
normal voice,
honest sentiment,
trustworthy expression,
but then…

Discovery,
our sincerity foiled,
our candor mocked,
we’re ditched,
we’ve been “made”.

We mean well,
we bare our inner being,
yet, rejection ensues.

We withdraw into the shadows,
wanting only coalescence
engendered with decency of purpose,
the desire to not want,
but to modestly exercise need,
seeking only the meld of spirits,
not of supernatural,
but of humanity’s essence
that togetherness with the touch

that is neither sexual,
ethereal, or rebellious,
merely the simple and innocent act of being.

Oh, such magnificence.

If only more attention
were paid to the silence,
where one’s quiet whisper
awaiting its moment to reveal,
where the elusive goal nears its resolve,
subject only to patience,

suddenly and quietly becomes.

For we are Queen.
King,
You,
Me,

indubitably the One.

So much to ruminate over…

Many of us,
knowing who we are,
remain vigil,
while so many keep running away,

fearful of being “made”.

I've been made a few times! Oh, but I'm so much stronger because of it! Life is too short to look back!! Excellent write. Your words reach out, Odin!

Love ya!

I'm sure you'll agree that no one can make you feel inferior without your consent. "If you only care about peoples approval you will always be their prisoner." Lao Tzu. I believe we're all hardwired to be loved and respected in this life. But for that to actually take root it has to be genuinely reciprocal. "Knowing who we are" is fine and necessary, and even salutary, but knowing who we're going to be (IMO) is infinitely more important. Enjoyed your thoughts... Peace... r

A lot to think about. If you are a member of the mafioso, being "made" is an honor. However, I believe your discourse is referring to someone "finding out" what is hidden behind the façade. That's why I like the honesty of being open and direct. It may turn some people off but it keeps me from being "read" by stigma and stereotype as someone who "can't" do what I do.

I think we make ourselves, but we wear a lot of different masks.

"Being Made" does not bother me at all, it just just shows the ignorance of those who "make" me. Eh, or is it my igornance? That's a possibility.
