See, Speak, Hear No Evil?

Uninvestigated attempted rape doesn’t matter in the confirmation of a Supreme Court nominee? See, Speak and Hear time is running out for conscience and consciousness to resurrect itself. (Image by Pinterest)

See, Speak, Hear No Evil?

The Congress at present.

How camouflaged the hostilities,
cloaked in duplicitous rhetoric,
elegant ties emboldened by tailored lapels
sitting enfolded by kid-skin leather,
each a throne to the ego needs of narcissism,
a platform to glare down upon the witnesses,

and hopefully the subpoenaed,
where testimonies from lifted chins
become the fodder for the spin of contemptuous rule.

Whether in committee hearings,
or their chamber of lairs,
how un-clever these wannabes to some of us,
these lifeless puppets whose bones are manipulated
by avarice and fright,
where re-election is top priority,
not the governing problems of a nation.

Such must society endure
from the politically armored fortification,
where gerrymandered votes
give many a limited time
to continue their warring behavior,
political tactics without any endgame strategy,
dishonesty serving up platitudes of self-aggrandizement,
all at the cost of people’s trust and tax dollars.

My, how gullible we have become,
endorsing representative chicanery and ambition,
ignoring the cost for such dishonest behavior
being borne out by society’s continued ignorance,
a glazed-over peering at a well-costumed, undeclared war
where smiles, glad-hands, and popularity
remain the chosen disguises
for greed, hatred and contempt.

Welcome to leadership’s Theatre of the Absurd,
the stage we created with unawareness and indolence,
where its stars play out their Grand Guignol acts
with aplomb and determination
trusting they will realize another curtain call
in the next election cycle.

Such continues America’s longest running show of nothingness,

even as a lifetime judicial position is at stake.

But wait…

There’s more…

Donate today and we’ll keep you alerted to…

The Congressional future…

A roadshow careening down our highways,
bloviating on “legislation genius”
and eyeing the Midterms as their stage revival,
an election night curtain call

on a new and gloriously pompous warring
from a heart of darkness forever in costume.

Lest we forget Kurtz’s last words,
“The horror… the horror.”

There’s still time.

"Oh the games people play now. Every night and everyday now................." the rest of that song tells the rest. This country is in the middle of a "hail Mary" throw! Great write as usual, Odin!

Love ya!

I go by what Richard said, except I did write my biography. I'm honest when I say, I truly do not listed to them. Republicans or Democrats. When I cast my vote I cast it for the party, not the man or woman who is running. I'm wrong you say? Maybe I am, but I am not as swept away or as disappointed as are those who but their trust in the ones who are running.

Apocalypse Now? Good grief! That movie creeped me out badly. My gosh... Brando played that character so well. I imagine if we were all held to task for our blunders, and improprieties, in our teens and twenties, we would all be excoriated. It's one of the reasons I've never considered writing an autobiography. I'd have to be honest. And I'm just not that resilient. (-: "America’s longest running show of nothingness," I fully agree, Odin. This is well written and gut-moving. Peace... r

Such a sad state of affairs, that continue to sink to new lows every day. I wonder if we'll ever be great (or at least normal) again.
