Time Shadows

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Some people spend their lives living in the shadow of their earlier times, forgetting such shadows can be made to disappear with acceptance and wisdom of their still-growing years. (Image by pinterest)

Time Shadows

It is only an instant in time and space,
those footsteps floating above the sand
beneath the small eclipse,
tiny grains of past memories
patiently enduring as shadows

searching for today’s relevance.

For some, the grounding is never found.
For others, once planted, shadows are forever reminders.
For most, careless stumbling has become but a habit,
and the passage of shadow, large and small,
continues everyday migration

across dwindling synaptic reality,

into the erosion of time.

Time knows.

Time waits.

Time shadows never disappear.

Yet for some the past becomes a forgotten existence,

unaware Time’s perpetual clock has nowhere to go but forward…

with us.

Like Ron, I most assuredly have written down my past, although unlike Ron, I can never forget it . . .

Why I have written down my past before I forgot it. But it is interesting as you have observed in this prosetry how people view time differently, some stuck in the past, and some quickly forgetting the past and stuck in a perpetual present. Real food for thought.
