Humans,
An unmistakable presence,
So rigid of purpose,
So brittle of choice,
Personas emanating auras of pride,
Sureness,
Arrogance,
Perhaps but in a shadow?

Accompanying such chameleon facades
Roils divergent fortification,
Where girders of sand
Entertain architecture of mind,
While denial perpetuates veiled erosion.

To encounter this hidden emptiness,
This enamored reflection,
Attrition's hourglass limits,
Many buy the ride atop, astride,
Clinging to granules
Of blissful ignorance in climax
With desperate mirages,
The seducing oasis for survivors.

Might we be...

Simply imagining a delusion,
Heroic triumph over adversity,
A play whose acts proceed without curtains,
Life's perpetual revolving stage,
Time's vortex without end.

Alone we are not.

Beneath grains of millennia,
Continues the fittest,
Survivors beyond fear,
Scampering through history
As ubiquitous,
Indestructible,
Void of desire,

Drinking but need.

Patiently they wait.

Watching Man's shadow disappear,
As mortality's fire fades,
Decaying nanoseconds of cosmic reality,
Providing continued husbandry,
Frugal management for the real
Unmistakable calm.

350 million years of ancestry
Moving from extinction
Twelve feet per second.

Earth-colored rainbows these,
Where proverbial pots of gold
Reproduce by virtue of storm,
Flood and erosion.

Earth as landlord,
Owner of permanent identity,
Only too happy to provide
Temporary rentals for us.

Harken to…

The advanced genera of survival,
Often gazed upon with disgust,
The fearless existence known as roaches.

Deserving of love?
Questionable.

Deserving of respect?
Undeniable.
