A prosetry observation) Roaches and ants have been around millions of years and give no indication of becoming extinct. We on the other hand…

Roaches, Ants and Humans

How often the question.
How often the ignoring.
How often the reality
That as a species we live lives
According to someone else’s purpose.

Perhaps…

Too many move through life
Embracing factotum,
Embracing servile doctrine,
Pushing religion,
Obsessing scholastic attainment,
Challenging career lures while forgetting…

Fulfillment eludes man-made designs,
Relies instead on discovery,
The inner being transparent.

Many hold to ignore our divine destiny to Be .

Such a quandary,
This idea of Being,
Thinking we know what we want,
What we need,
Who we truly are.

Oh. my…

Few choose to seek “their truth,”
Opting instead to crawl through endless trenches
Of waste and human rubble,
Enduring razor-like suffering,
Only to remain a stranger to one’s self.

Sadly …

These scars of self-mutilation subtly spread,
Metastasizing into bondage of heart and mind,
Leading to perhaps one last question.

Will our species ultimately become but alien anthropological studies?
Will we prove our existence as but a dot under the cosmic microscope?
Will we be an ironic exercise for revealing who we ultimately were not?

Or …

Might the oldest instinct of the planet finally kick in?

Roaches and Ants know survival.
We should have heeded the lessons…

But?

What with these earthquakes going on, I picture layers and chunks of the earth breaking off and flying off into space with whatever life remains on each "chunK'. Without the core of the earth, it off on its own in space somewhere............Oh, Odin! You've got me going again!!

Love ya!

Ants have a very programmed existence within the colony. Many are workers that spend their whole lives working hard to build the colony and care for the young. There is always a queen that gives birth to the various types of ants/bees preprogramed for their jobs. No learning required.

Roaches seem to be individuals and only get together for food, shelter or to reproduce. Both ants and roaches are small, can hide in almost any kind of place from very traumatic situations, and feed on a variety of foods. Especially decaying ones.

We are highly intelligent. We waste our intelligence in fealty to various strange beliefs like consumerism… Keeping up with the Joneses… Showing off our wealth by consumption and seeking out "rare" things that are a rarer all the time.

I don't want to be an ant or a roach. But I think I'd like to stick around and see what happens when all that we believed in backfires on us. In that situation, I will be the first to die, because I currently require a very complex support system that will disappear almost immediately.

I would still like to see how humans face what's coming. Comic book superheroes won't be there to help.

If we are as adaptable as the ant or the cockroach, we will survive.
Ants seem to have some purpose in eating wood, and plants, and things. But cockroaches seem to hove no purpose other than just being an annoyance. Oh, to be more like the ant.
