Ubiquitous Tomorrows

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Remembering so many couples in the retirement home of my mother, I couldn’t help but wonder today if some would argue lasting love can never be realized without archiving the past
into a safe place…perhaps to be revisited in one’s twilight hours...together. (Image by pinterest)

Ubiquitous Tomorrows

Through questions without answers,
amidst memories not yet born,
there awaits answers to be earned.

Touching yesterday’s promises for tomorrow,
that place where mind and spirit know each other well,
a shadowed darkness of anticipation
segues nightmares into sleeping rainbows not yet realized,
prepares palettes of life’s colors not yet defined,
where the light quietly waits to dawn
a kaleidoscopic spectrum of quieter epiphanies.

Destiny dictates we’ll all take that walk through more tonights of tomorrows,
where hopefully within slumber there will be the sweet fragrance of our smiles,
the dance of translucent thought and feelings upon our lips,
proclaiming the love we provide one another from our yesterdays,
where remaining truth forever immerses itself within our sunrises...
our sunsets.

Ubiquitous tomorrows are so promising
for those who refuse to abandon the disappointments of the past,
those lessons learned at a cost,

having become mind and heart endurance,

the grit that allows courage for another day

to take into tomorrow’s remembrance.

"the dance of translucent thought" - that's a cool phrase Odinsan. I was the head engineer - for about a year - at a hospital/nursing home thirty plus years ago. What I witnessed there has never left me. You will never end up in a place like that ole friend. You will remain creative, vibrant, and healthy until the day you pass through the portal. Your piece here reminded me of something Ellen G. White posited. "True love is not a strong, fiery, impetuous passion. It is, on the contrary, an element calm and deep. It looks beyond mere externals, and is attracted by qualities alone. It is wise and discriminating, and its devotion is real and abiding." ...Peace... rlc
