Inviting Winter's Art

- Whether it's redistribution of wealth, movements in the parks, or a much needed redistribution of sanity, as we try so hard to acquire some kind of uniqueness, a separation from what Plato might call “sameness,” we sometimes forget how connected we are to the many layered canvases of nature’s curated art. "A guilty conscience needs to confess. A work of art is a confession" – Albert Camus. (Image by Pxhere)

Inviting Winter’s Art

Around the corner…

What value we ignore,
these short days,
air filled with crystalline arrest
bestowing remembrance of colors in respite,
while we engage anew our will to embrace the resistance,
the invitation to accept.

Winter ushers us through Nature’s galleries,
where bows of pine and oak wood
curl their needle and leaf
seeking sleep’s protection,
while creation’s ever-changing canvases,
nature's ancestral intransigence,
prepares yet another gallery of naked magic.

The space of emptiness soon fills
with Time’s protective attachment of woven crystals,
bare branches receiving Winter’s seasonal brush strokes,
finding purchase onto Nature’s hibernation,
a frosted cover for now,
life’s resurrection come spring.

How wise…

Season’s four-tier exhibitions,
void of competing position,
a constant reminder of how little
man-made comfort we require,
such material pleasures so covetously horded,
eventually of lost interest.

Fortunately…

Winter’s residue of crystal-like sculptures
will survive amidst our huddled awareness,
allowing experience into creation’s innate connection,
that place where all that is, all that was,
knows well the cyclic-rewards of patience.

And so…

The organic world’s singularity remains
so ever near for many,
a winter's cold rejection  for others,

while the conscious appreciate

the many revealing moments of wonderment.

From what I gather from your introduction, the artistry of winter may be an apology for the abundance of summer, but I think not. Winter provides a period of rest for all involved plant or animal usually takes respite even when it can be cruel to those faced with it directly.

Great artistry in the way you have written and presented this poem.

An inspiring piece, and pic; the hoary frost on the bare trees is an image that stimulates this writers creative muscle. "Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each." Henry David Thoreau. Enjoyed your thoughts Odin. Peace… r
