Virus Truth

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

As if the mass urban downward slide wasn’t enough, along comes Covid 19, a disease that takes particular focus on densities, especially urban populations where minorities make up a substantial number. (Image by pinterest

Poem Artwork

Virus Truth

Beware…

Despair does,
what despair is,

even as untruth echoes
crosstown,
uptown,
downtown,
any town,
through alleys,
valleys,
hustle-street tallies.

Minions hope,
‘cause if truth don’t seed,
change’ll never breathe.

An’ everyone knows
Strokin’ ain’t pleasin’,
and dreamin’ ain’t meanin’,
‘cause no one wants suffocation be,
what gaspin’ misery sees.

Sad reality, Odin!

Love ya!

While some see the future in gleaming, self-sustaining high-rise buildings, it is also easy to see cities as you have in this poem, decaying crowded places where disease reaches the least able to deal with. Let us hope so former rules rather than the latter.

I like your change of format in this poem. More direct and hard-hitting.

Untruths and despair seem to have become the norm. That seems to be the truth of the virus. Hopefully when we climb out of this, some of us will be better people.
