In Sanity We Trust…Or Else


As imaginings become real
for some

As lies beget compliance
for others

Is there not sufficient intelligence among us
to eradicate the dis-ease
to replace broadcast-bred punditry
with education-based reason

For lest we forget

Self-proclaimed God-endorsed candidates
stand ready to usher forth
the new Dark Ages of a different kind
where the pitch black centuries past
might appear as merely a precursor
to a wind-up clock of atonement
compared to the digitally-enhanced-
fall-to-your-knees-worship-my-prophetic-message-from-Senators in fear
or-forever-burn-in-hell
nonsense

How smug the rhetoric delivered
contemptuous of any and all
who seek empirical light

especially the unemployed

being shot in the knee caps

How inane yet dangerous
their preacheresque fantasies
lit by temporary vessels
whose slippery echoes
will wane like the rapid melting of deifying candles
a collapsing fictional luminance
fueled by a secession-minded savior
stoked with slave worshipers of
make-believe independence burning into oblivion
the logic of imagination less madness

The extreme Right
A country's salvation

Hardly

For where is it said
by Constitutional doctrine
or Laws of the land
or common sense rationale of sentient beings
that a great tomorrow
can only be by denouncement of today
that self-righteous ploys are sanctioned by divine intervention
or one's Back Home constituency

Perhaps only among those
who would fill their being
with hubris and nescience
believing a shell game onslaught of guised ignorance and hypocrisy
can fool awareness

In sanity we trust…or else?
