Echoes Within

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

With so much reason to preserve life, one has to wonder what possesses those whose behavior brings on the shortening of life, and often that of others. Unfortunately, too few are aware they are perpetrators of denial. (Image by Shirin Neshat)

Poem Artwork

Echoes Within

The self’s starlit sea

Gives respite to the heart’s tempest

When the mind’s meteors arc,

Searching resistance to gravity’s pull.

Life maneuvers through bliss and misery

Like the slow-motion dream of a lightning bolt

Dancing across the shores of answers.

Yet…

Flesh and bone prod senses within

To ignore the thunder,

Escape the wildness,

Even as the inner self

Echoes our uninhibited bravery

Like all existence…

To respect the vibration,

To allow the storms beneath one’s surface

To cleanse and evolve anew.

For…

Is not life too precious,

Too gifted,

Too short,

To hasten an end?

Some people embrace life, and go for the gusto, unhindered in any way. Others go trough life with a lackadaisical attitude, and others just get beat down and give up up hope. very thought provoking write.

Your question at the end is compelling and poignant, especially in this day and age, when so many people are reluctant to give an answer to it. Some thought-provoking thoughts here to dwell upon.
