Transition
Fewer questions
Mark the page turning
Of days into months into years
Most often
I forget you are here
My life
This baffling dot in eternity’s crystal ball
Shiver I will
Being close to that moment
As darkness warnings come without cause
Such conspiratorial shadows it chooses
Descartes gathered the odor constant
Of witches burning while he sat thinking
Of his truth so obvious
Yet
So many keep failing to truly enjoy
His Age of Enlightenment option
How many of us know it
Perhaps seeing
A bird shrieking
“The cat is coming”
To make us wake up
Will clarify momentary darkness
As inevitable closure
To wings untethered
For one’s moment of transition
