Waving Goodbye

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

As many continue catering to their outgoing leader, his repeated: “It’s not over” is about to be swallowed up in a tempestuous end. “Go on, believe! It does no harm. Believing means submitting to an authority. Having once submitted, you can’t then, without rebelling against it, first call it in question and then once again find it acceptable.” Wittgenstein – Culture and Value (Image by Fran Rodriguez)

Waving Goodbye

Dreams of past pleasures
cling suspended,
as if Stewie Griffin's magical time machine,
or a new century's "Yellow Submarine,"
can restore past illusions.

But above,

gravity's belfry,
the tone of desires
held fast by our eagerness to enjoin,
seduces our senses,
unlocks imagined doors
preciously bolted.

All the while,

many expect the return of
phony nirvana's yesteryear-reality,
believing they can continue to live
beneath the waves.

But forever awash

drifts the wreckage of rubbish-thought,
our attached history,
glyphs afloat Time's miscarriage of justice,
where the lie-forged autocrat is running out of time,
glowering at the submerged attention
deep below the whitecaps of misbegotten urges.

While some,

the stillborn of purpose
amid stagnant amniotic fluids
sink further,
resigned to be but dredge-worthy bottom feeders
wallowing in darkness seen only by synthetic light above.

The incorporeal forethought

confined by the blur-significance
pulses the swells atop the tsunamis awaiting deeper shifts,
understanding persistence may further delusional persuasion,

even as a man-made tempest

must ultimately wave goodbye.

That quote states clearly why I shy away from unabashed belief. Our fearless leader with webbed feet is lamely ducking the inevitable and getting further underwater with every lame excuse for moving ahead with history on the claims of his and his followers beliefs… Not actions.

Just today Herr President took full credit for getting a vaccine injected in American arms today in record time after all of the naysayers told him that it would take at least a year. As though his browbeating and slogans like, "warp speed," could get such things done faster than due process. Pfizer, as I recall refused money from the United States so that it wouldn't be influenced by the bribery of money and power to short-circuit the development of a safe and effective vaccine.
