Word Motifs

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Today’s revelation of the Tennessee bomber’s words to a neighbor last week: “I’m going to be so Famous” can’t help but remind me of how little the “who” matters, when it’s the “what” that has a chance of remaining impactful in a positive sense for those willing to accept their positive work may transcend their ego. Word Motifs

Life's Residue

Categorized

Filed

Archived

From

worn paths seen through heavy mist

where rubber balls once bounced

bicycle tires rolled

sneakers kicked rocks

Vibram soles trekked

To

transient echoes heard distant

where taxi horns blew

subway rails labored loud

pigeons cooed serenity

radio controlled sail boats

dotted Central Park's lake

Returned

where gentle touches

made rewarding a mother's love

a child's security

a father's confidence

grandfather's trust

grandmother's faith

Such

becomes part of Life's driftwood

destined to be fed of life

honored

harvested

used

recycled

Lest we forget

The motif of everlasting text

Realizes such words know not death

a father's confidence

grandfather's trust

grandmother's faith

~Love the imagery! And the hope embedded in self-forgetful love.

Many blessings in the new year, Odin.
