Eternal Timing

With so many determinants in life’s longevity cycle, there’s always a waiting line the next dark event. (image by amazon)

Poem Artwork

Eternal Timing

Ghost chair rocks in still air

Motes of dust idle motionless

Their dancing days long gone

Schools of yellow fish

Peek from behind peeling wallpaper

Keeping their eyes on ghost chair rocking

Late is eternal

A tarnished crucifix hangs over the bed

Watches over stopped alarm clock

Housed with spider and web

Continuing on with life

Patiently waiting to bestow death

On any stray life caught in its web

All while…

Landlord awaits his next human tenant

Ready to play out his or her own eternal timing.

To think this can all happen in a single lifetime. A vibrant home with a loving family ending up vacant and filled only with a few reminders that people, not spiders, once ruled this place.

Nature's takeover of what we thought was long life, is quite quick compared to the eternity's cycle.
