Regret Seeking Remission
Even as winter ends
the cold persists
Morning awakenings
endure shadows of the past
Everywhere
good wishes collapse mute
Bouquet openings
become but empty vases
Hesitant touches
forever pretend
Intimate whispers diminish to
but a resonance of silence
The simple music
of children's laughter
The comforting essence
of rose petals beneath one's touch
finds captivity mere folly
Time seems to stop
dreams of future
become nightmares of past
The taste of alum tinctures
become forever's aftertaste
When regret finds no escape
and shackles of blame
hold firm inside walls of guilt
clouds remain forever without rain
Hopefully
Regret finds remission
It took me a long time, but I got over it. Including those found that their love for me was not great enough to take on the task of my decline.
