Dreams Seeking Escape
Screams echo
Jerking up in bed
Like Jack out of the box
Fearful
As if death has appeared
My hotel
Of disturbing sleep
The night manager
Unaware
So deaf
Is he
Me
Gasping for air
Like a discarded finger puppet
Joining other rooms
Their dreams groping for purchase
As fellow shadows of the night
So many farces and tragedies
Vying for synchronicity
Window repose
Hotel neon beckons
To color the night
Sizzle
Spark
Stay alive
Eternity awaits
Its voiceless echo
Wanting to hear
Death make some resonance tonight
Only the bedbugs beneath
The bodies of the haunted
Make mini-sounds of diving deep
So sublime
Their escape from
Man’s crushing weight of noise
As eternity patiently bides its time
