Cavemen Guised in Armani

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

A bipartisan group of senators has tentatively reached an agreement with White House officials on hundreds of billions of dollars in new spending on the nation’s infrastructure, giving a significant boost to one of Biden’s biggest domestic policy ambitions.
Senators leaving a negotiating session at the Capitol on Wednesday evening said that the group — which included five Democrats, five Republicans and top White House officials — had reached the framework of a deal, and that senators would go to the White House to brief Biden personally on the details Thursday. (Wire service)
Anyone brazen enough to hold their breath? The shroud of the ever-present “Golden hair” is still the tailor-in-chief for the next parade of deceptive curly tails.

Poem Artwork

Cavemen…

Choose your costume

Your weapon

Your accouterments of security

And still you have what?

Whether through the culture of law

Medicine

Politics

Science

We learn very little

About nature needing us to be

But human

Too many carry the club of greed

Protected by armature power

Positions free to brandish self-serving blows

Whether from insulated offices

Atop towering edifices of success

Or in the hallowed halls of governance

Where purposed legislative impotence

Knows only re-election

They continue their deliverance

Wielding crushing blows upon sanity

Taking advantage of society’s acquiescence

Rendering its moral compass to tatters

Knowing its philosopher king remains

Impotent in trying to be bi-partisan

Would that a visitor might appear

One from some distant and ancient planet

One whose existence

Has survived billions of years

Visiting for one purpose only

To deliver a message

“You have lost your minds.

Choosing to live in a bubble

Thinking it will never burst.

Such solipsism has in fact started its implosion”

Might it be…

Self annihilation merely waits

For the choice of method

By our cavemen guised in Armani?

You have hit the nail on the head when it comes to hardheaded Republicans.

They wear their clubs very well. Strike blows to anyone who has a better idea. What a waste of time and money. What a shame.

Don't Republicans know and Trump suspect that he will be passé in 2024? As far as I know, no one term president ever has come back to continue dissuading the electorate with lies and bad behavior. But like, spoiled children, not elite statesmen, they are dragging their feet and filibustering until they get their way, even if their way is the wrong way.
