Precious Life

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

With so little time to correct the slow and deliberate misuse of our planet, lives are going to continue their gasping for air unless consciousness is strong enough to persuade conscience to awaken. (CNN)Nearly 200 countries have pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions to prevent the worst consequences of the climate crisis, but there is still a huge gap between what's been promised and what scientists say is needed, according to a report by the UN Environment Programme. Precious Life

How careless we’ve become

With the preservation of life

Can we ever rekindle loss of life
That enigmatic effervescent glow of matter
Housed in a sentient mass
Where hearts and minds
See
Hear
Feel
Vibrations lesser life knows not of

Oh how sweet the breath of life
The in and out of sensorial perceptions
Each with its own personal footprint
Its own personal destiny

To lose that life
To remove that vibration
Moving about to learn
Intuit
Aspire
Learning of love
To take that life...

One can only send caring oscillations
So many strangers
Yet one
So many parents
Yet community
So many brothers and sisters
Yet...
Yet...

Such bewilderment we face

Such heart-crushing introspection needed

To heal
To globally become aware that

Climate change is real

That the air we breathe

Remains dependent on our will to change

Minds often need help
Even as we often forget to...
Ask

I LOVE this one! Everything about it….the subject being climate AND essence of human beings. This has tenderness and grief, but is loaded with appreciation and awareness. I’ve read Eckhardt Tolle’s books and seen his retreat videos, and this poetry feels like his message — ‘stop and taste the sweetness of clear water, the solitary note of a song bird.’. . consciousness and observation and appreciative respect. The language you use is ultra sensitive and it carries the ‘need’ for connectivity. It carries the unfulfillment of that need at this human hour. Your piece is beautiful and haunting, with perfect line breaks. ~~ djl P.S. — Stanza #5 gets my yellow highlight, the brevity and massive message; but I really want to highlight the whole thing, for this subject is the ‘heart of my artichoke, Odin.’ i.e. - Lynne McTaggart’s book “The Field.”
