Rebirthing Childhood
To abandon corporate slavery
and create a moment of truth
allows dormant senses to live again,
to know of a hummingbird’s stillness,
to feel the pine needles crunch beneath winter snows,
to hear the embracing stretch of pistils weeping,
to see beyond challenge in tenuous waves trembling,
to gently touch a pebble strewn beach once again
is to experience a rebirth of childhood,
where casting one’s fate to the climate of change
is to gather wisdom through ageless innocence,
and the wonderment of time’s nurturing patience.
My brother just wrote that on his morning walk, he was fortunate not to be seeing tornado damage that came close to where he lives, but instead, a possum playing dead. On closer inspection, the possum was badly injured, probably from being hit by a car. In childhood that's how we learn about tragedy in nature.
