Inextricability Calling
How rapidly it might make itself at home
In one’s office,
Bedroom,
Kitchen,
Living room,
As there is no ‘right’ space,
Especially if one is receiving a surprise visit
By inextricability.
When dust could be falling,
Mote by meticulous mote,
In the high noon sun,
What might be the appropriate courtesy
For greeting our guest,
Assuming it might well come calling midday,
Conscious that sun’s blinding silence is preferred
For a final shoot out.
Waiting can be an unctuous experience,
Driving one’s patience to extremes.
One could alert the cat,
Knowing the feline species
Knows well what to do with threats.
And one might do just that,
But does not,
Powerless as one is apt to be
Against inextricability’s
Seductive persuasion
Whispered in your ear.
