Expectation

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

- In certain instances, one can discover that painful emotions can be as exhausting as physical toil. But, of course, “The best thing about pain is you know you’re not dead yet” -- Danielle Alexandra. (image by Pinterest)

Poem Artwork

Expectation

What cruelty it often delivers

Letting sunrise awaken

Sometimes missing sunset by

Gray clouds of cover

Expectation

Tries patience’s will

Notes further repairs necessary for the distant past

For to have been immured of late

In the walls of duplicity’s illness

Proved the sleeping giant

Of unanticipated greener valleys

Was merely biding time

Unexpectedly…

Shaded by dusky lashes

Large dark eyes

Gentle shadings

Such as poets are wont to compare

To gazelle-eyed enchantment

Revealed the will to heal a poet’s error

And so…

The long road of regret fate had paved

Beckoned unfinished repair of the past to begin

Perseverance prevails

For if one’s love expectation

Possesses a wise mind and honest soul

Attractive appearances might fade

But ageless attributes endure

Just as the playing of gentle music

Lovingly turns sorrow

Into beauty

Even as…

The inner-being

Yearns to be free and pure

Business becomes a profanation

Doggedly tugging the thin threads of resolve

Growing with purpose

Hope stands firm

In times of doubt

Even at the expense of distant yearnings

Oh, yes.

Your words are a beautiful expression of hope and healing. "Only love can break a heart. Only love can heal it again." Roy Orbison
Your imagery sparkles, Odin.

Love ya!

"Just as the playing of gently music
lovingly turns sorrow
into beauty."

Such a beautiful line and so surprisingly true. In my love of opposites, I too have written about the positive aspects that sorrow can bear. Love this one.

Certainly let's hope that that effort to repair past misgivings will result in more tranquil thoughts and possibly, more love, in the future. Best wishes in your quest.

Wow! I know my comment should be all about your poem.
But we must have been on the same wavelength.
I will yield to your talent.
