Mindfulness as Ballast

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

- “Do we know what's coming? Have we ever known what's around the corner? We may surmise, reflect with erudition, and make predictions; some manifest, others won't. We know there's an order afoot, that dust knows in its feelingless wisdom, but can we put our ear to the road and hear the exact plan, see completely the exact map, trace the precise routes, and delineate our culture's journey? No. The feeling is there, though, and the time is now. Much decay is at our door. It's almost at a cycle's end; time to begin again.” - D. Berkey

Mindfulness as Ballast

Does a cloud look down and ask

why the shade of gray

makes partners with cool?

Why the sun’s rotation wondrously

nurtures its fury from radiance-formed mirrors?

Do ocean waters sense the shore's

lapping caresses made tender

while tsunamic back-door-slamming

enfolds other boundaries with change?

Today’s awareness knows winged flight

remembers the evolving journey,

accepts its echoes of wind-sliced ballast,

and knows this dust of man raised high

upon cosmic-nesting lattice,

is but nurturing once again the next

mindfulness as ballast.

Every second of every day, the quantum mix determines
what’s afoot…and each one of us in thought, word and deed
contributes to this whirlpool agenda…

What is next, we may not know but we do know it's coming fast. Well penned as always, Odin.

I believe you are writing about the stability, the ballast, of the majority of humans viewing the turmoil at the edges of civilization.

Yes, mindfulness, or paying attention to what is right and good goes a long way to keep the extremes from running things. But we have to act. If we don't act for what is right, what is wrong will continue to take over. So please, sign the petitions, go to the rallies, and insist on everyone do the right thing, the good thing, the balanced ballast holding the whole thing together.
