Embracing the Disquiet
One’s disquieted tears kept isolated
can quickly find madness,
if not for lingering memories
caged up inside
where duplicitous natures
of companions,
long to heal.
Still…
Many have known
withdrawal from the world,
enduring decades of reclusive escape,
where dark nights of the soul
visit such survivors of abject suffering
with empathy.
Lasting peace
often comes from
a small voice in the head
imploring the wounded
to sit quietly
and learn
everything
they need to realize
from the wisdom
of silence.
silence is truly a gift,
a momentary respite
from the flooding thoughts of ours.
thank you for this wonderful piece.
Like that great songwriter and poet, Paul Simon, listen to the Sound of Silence.
