Sadness Relearning Joy
If joy is greater than sadness,
Where has truthful eye-contact with love gone?
Why the lingering loss and absence
inflicting anfractuous papercuts
across my heart?
Will the sun ever pierce
The roiling clouds of loss?
Where hid the touch of compassion,
Always available from the paw of Lukas,
Even when his tail remained idle?
Might the roses bloom red again,
Or will they remain dormant
Like the overcast skies of tumult
Holding back growth’s energy so needed?
When might
the sound
And sight
Of tranquility
Make neutral
The acidic sadness
Of raw-grief tidal waves
Eroding life’s compassionate shoreline of peace?
To embrace an ending
For a learned beginning
Go I.
