Creation’s Perfection
As the sun sets,
Imagining one’s dreams
Traveling with the diminishing arc
Is to know today’s fading
Is but to allow evening light
Its turn in completing the cycle of growth.
With a moonlit cradling of nourished landscapes,
Life breathes fully the cooling night,
Inviting the drifting moon
To embellish Nature and Man
With its comforting embrace.
How precious the gift,
This creation of a living jewel
Designed to perfection,
Yet challenged daily
By humankind’s carelessness
It's hard to fathom why we honor those who have gotten very rich by happening upon the low hanging fruit (the apple?), taken it and left the Earth to heal the spoils. The spoils have grown immensely and are threatened every aspect of our planet, including us.
But you are right, most continue to live life large and think that Eden will continue to provide. They may be shocked next year when their Starbucks coffee doubles in price.

Ralph Waldo Emerson has written: "If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore; and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God which had been shown! But every night come out these envoys of beauty and light the universe with their admonishing smile."
