Restless Inferno

Too few of humankind understand that existence is but heat’s nature--igniting and extinguishing. (Painting by Lynda Howitt)

Poem Artwork

Restless Inferno

How warm the touch of a mother’s hand

How tepid the wash of that first bath in the sink

How temperate the first kiss upon one’s lips

How fiery the darkness of passion

How spark-prone comes reciprocal commitment

How hot the mantle of trust’s comfort

How smoke-hidden does truth await its time

How combustive rises honestly unbridled

How explosive the reality of fact

How restless inferno’s next beginning

How uniquely-different this one is for you~~and it has the hallmark of your profundity. Also, I see your chronology in the progression of these stages. I like these matches of human states of being with incremental elements of heat sources and byproducts. This is uniquely intriguing, full of the energy of which it speaks. My favorite line is the ‘spark-prone’ reciprocal commitment. Third line from bottom makes me wonder if the word ‘honestly’ was intended to be ‘honesty.’ I love the concept of honesty unbridled. ~~ djl

All of life is energy, sometimes smoldering, sometimes flaming. Thought provoking and well penned, Odin.

Yes, we are made from exploding stars. Life first formed from volcanic heated water so hot it would scald. Heat that is in us and around us, creating a passion to move forward and write better poetry with every word.

Makes me wonder if cold-blooded creatures like snakes have any lust or love in them. But watching them bask in the sun like human sunbathers, makes me think they might have love and romance, especially the way they guard their young.

Fine use of repetition to hammer down your point, not to mention the explosive adjectives. Love it.
