Unconditional Good

Doing good is to know

Your smile given to a stranger

Is accepted as a nod of hope.

Doing good could be

The gesture of giving your subway seat

To a homeless senior,

Unsteady on his or her feet.

There is much good

In being honest,

Hurtful in some instances

As it may be,

For appreciating truth

Is hard-wired in us.

Broadly stated…

Doing good

Has a betterment inherent in its action,

Whether improving the conditions

Under which others live,

Or

Allowing kindness to be exerted,

Knowing few,

If any,

Turn away from kindness,

Often imbued with the desire

To clone the action,

And giving it to others.
